More than 300 persons attended the funeral services last Monday for the four members of the Wood family who were drowned in San Carlos Lake on December 21, when their boat capsized in a heavy wind. Those that died in this tragic accident were Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Wood, their daughter, Lucille, and Mrs. Burt Wood.

On Monday, the Presbyterian Church in Casa Grande was the scene of a deeply moving service conducted by the Rev. Leslie J. Ross, pastor of the Methodist Church and the Rev. Curry H. Love, retired pastor of the Presbyterian Church.

Approximately 75 automobiles were in the long procession that threaded its way slowly to the Mountain View Cemetery, where the Wood family were laid to rest.

William Reuben Wood, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Wood, was 45 years old, and had come to Arizona from Uvalde, Texas with his parents some 20 years ago. He was a graduate of the Uvalde High School and took post graduate work at the Bisbee High School in Arizona.

In World War I he was a volunteer in the U.S. Navy and at time of his discharge was chief electrician of the U.S. Tiger on which he served with honor throughout the war.

He was married to Miss Lucille Detloff, of Bisbee, and was the father of two daughters.

Besides his parents of Casa Grande, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lewis Storey, of Casa Grande, and Mrs. Joe Flowers, of Globe, a daughter Dorothy, of Casa Grande, and a brother, Burt Wood, of Casa Grande.
