Emma Jane Rich Whitney was known as Jennie. She was the daughter of Rufus Rich and Saloma Gillett. She married Leonard Ames Whitney, son of Riley Whitney. The couple had two children, Earnest L Whitney, Trainmaster at Richland, and Rich Whitney, professor at Syracuse University. She died while living in Mexico.

Funeral services of Mrs. Jennie Rich Whitney were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Episcopal church, Rev. George F Shepherd officiating. Burial made in the village cemetery. -- Mrs. Frank McChesney.
