Betty Rockwell Dillow, 88, of Lucasville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at SOMC Hospice.
She was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Lucasville, a daughter of the late John Henry and Kathryn Annie Egbert Rockwell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Dillow, Sept. 22, 1995; four brothers, Howard, Joseph, Don, and John Henry Rockwell; two sisters, Mary Margaret Wolfe and Janet Rockwell; three grandchildren, Joy and Joseph Carrel and Debbie Alley Craft.
Betty was a homemaker, a member of the Stitch and Chatter Sewing Club, and the Miller's Run United Methodist Church. Betty was loved by all who knew her and was called "Granny" by all children. Betty had the joy of accepting others into her home whenever they were in need.
At the time of her death, Betty was survived by three daughters, Rosemary "Judy" (Scottie) Carrel, Nancy Reading, and Linda Lemaster, all of Lucasville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Wilma) Rockwell of Portsmouth; two sisters, Redea (Estel) Redden of Bellevue, Mich., and Annabel (Ted) Jordan of Dayton; numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored; and three very special friends, Ray Lemaster, Betty Merritt, and Liz Rickett.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, with Loren Hardin and Jason Coriell officiating. Burial will follow in Lucasville Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home Wednesday.
