Inez Illies, 77, of Bagley died on January 21, 2009 at her home in Bagley surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bagley. Visitation will be on Friday January 23, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the church with a 7:00 prayer service. Interment will be at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery in Bagley. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements.

Inez was born on June 28, 1931 in Holst Township, Clearwater County, Minnesota the daughter of Lester and Elsie (Halverson) Stenseng. She was the second of three daughters. She graduated from Bagley High School in 1949, and attended bookkeeping school in Owatonna, MN. Inez married Leonard Illies on October 22, 1949 in Fosston, MN.

She worked as a phone operator for Garden Valley Telephone Company in the early 1950's. She also worked at area businesses such as the G&G café and the Bagley Mercantile.

Inez and Leonard became owner operators of Illies Oil Co. which operated for almost 30 years where she acted as bookkeeper and also worked as cook during the management of the Truck Stop Café.

The main focus of her life was her husband, children and their families. She also had many interests including sewing and crocheting, attending craft sales, having rummage sales, reading, gardening, loving to feed wild birds and deer and enjoying her pet dogs.

She is survived by two daughters Barb (Dallas) Reese of Bagley, MN
Elaine Lebeda of Bagley, MN.
Three sons Neal (Diane) Illies of Solway, MN
Mike Illies of Chicago, IL
Jerry (Jody) Illies of Bagley, MN
Two sisters Anna (David) Chumley of Bowling Green, KY
Zelda (Brad) Bruhjell of Duluth, MN.
10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren
Crafting buddy Sue Korf.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 2001, her mother in 2001 and father in 1978.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Clearwater Co. Hospice.
