Mrs. Mary J. Crum, widow of Andrew Crum, died at 4:40 o'clock Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose a. McDaniel, six miles west of Decatur. Her age was eighty-seven years and twenty-one days. Her death was due to infirmities incident to old age. Mrs. Crum's maiden name was Mary J. Propst, daughter of Jacob and Lydia Propst. She was born near Sweetwater, Menard county, Ill., May 8, 1837. She came to Macon county when she was about seventeen years old, and ever since then had lived in Harristown township, a few miles from Harristown. She and Andrew J. Crum were married May 20, 1855. Mr. Crum died Sept. 5, 1919. She was a life-long member of the Christian church and transferred her membership to the Harristown church when she went there. She was widely known among the old residents of Macon county and had many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. McDaniel, with whom she has made her home since the death of her husband, and one son, Frank Crum, of near Harristown. A daughter, Mrs. Laura E. Fuller, died three years ago in Denver. There are seven grand-children and ten great grand-children. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the residence of Mrs. McDaniel. The burial will be in the Harristown cemetery.
