There is a historical marker on the west side of Hwy 15 going N out of Bishopville just before crossing the river. The marker says "After serving in the militia under General Francis Marion during the Revolutionary War, this planter and patriot lived near here and operated a ferry, known as DuBose's Crossing. His grave is in the family cemetery 100 yards north"
Peter and Laney were parents to:
Rosamonde Dubose (no proof of this - died young?)
John Middleton Dubose 1787-1870
Penelope Jane Dubose (Stuckey) 1791-1825
Hariett Dubose (Belk/Stokes) 1799-1846
Argent Dubose (Josey) 1800-1850
Elaine Elizabeth Dubose (Woodham) 1803-1880
Dupree Dubose (Dixon) 1808-1879
