Uncle George never married. He was a semi-invalid from early childhood caused by a fall that injured his hips and legs. Because he was handicapped, his parents made sure that he had a good education. After finishing his education, Uncle George taught in the Carroll County Public School System. He was known for the extra time he gave to his pupils after class hours, when he gave lessons in sewing, cooking, knitting and various crafts. Uncle George was an excellent cook, barber, practical nurse, cobbler and wood carver. His love for knowledge made him an avid reader, therefore, where there was a question, he had an answer. Likewise, where there was a need, Uncle George gave a helping hand. He was short in stature, but tall in intellect, good will and neighborliness. I hope that this information helps to make Uncle George shine in his rightful place in the family. Uncle George died in his sleep due to heart failure. He is buried in St. John Cemetery, Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland.

[Memories of George Patrick Walsh, by Sister Mary Blanche R.S.M. (Blanche Elizabeth Walsh), daughter of Charles and Minnie Walsh, compiled by P.W. Walsh (Pol Breatnach) in the 1989 Walsh Booklet]
