B.H. Atkinson was called to Batavia Tuesday to take a casket and embalm the body of G.W. Nance, who died there Tuesday morning.

He was about 80 years of age and his remains were shipped to Honeyville,(Should be Honey Grove) Texas.

G.W. Nance, father of Byrd Nance of this place, died Tuesday morning.

Mr. Nance was 86 years old and was a soldier in the Mexican war, having served through the whole campaign under General Scott.

Honey Grove Signal, 06 May 1910

The remains of Mr. G. W. Nance, who was a citizen of Honey Grove many years ago, were brought here last Friday and were interred in Oakwood cemetery Saturday.

Mr. Nance died at Batavia, Ark., at the ripe old age of 86 years.

Deceased was a veteran of the Mexican war.

His wife died many years ago, when he lived in Honey Grove.

Five children survive him.
