On April 8, 1922, Madeleine gave birth to twin girls they named Clifton and Madeleine. They were named for their parents. The delivery was very hard and the mother, Madeleine passed away two days later. The doctor told Clifton that baby Madeleine would not be too far behind her mother in leaving this earth. Clifton made the decision to wait to bury his wife Madeleine until baby Madeleine could be buried with her mother. Originally they were buried in Greenville; however, years later Clifton had their bodies moved to Memorial Park so that the family could all be buried together close to where he was raised.
