Charles C. Welker, of Marble Hill, died Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Florence Long of Marble Hill, following a lengthy illness. Born July 14, 1875 at Millersville, Mr. Welker was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Welker and leaves 88 direct descendants. On July 29, 1887 he was married to Miss Eva Cousey, who passed away in 1955.
Mr. Welker was a charter member of Barks Chapel Church.
Surviving are five sons, Ora of Lutesville, Mo.; Columbus C. of Jackson, Mo.; Woodrow W. of Arnold, Mo.; Lyman 'Bob' of St. Louis, Mo.; and Linder of Flint Mich.; five daughters, Mrs. Dora Cobb and Miss Ruby Welker of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Mrs. Jess Green and Mrs. Florence Long of Marble Hill, Mo.; and Mrs. Paul Lincoln of Lutesville, Mo.; 40 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, eight brothers and two children also preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Barks Chapel Church near Whitewater. Burial was in the church cemetery.
