Murder in Gaston County-
On Saturday night at Caleb Carpenter's store, Gaston county, near Cherryville, Lee Aderholt, a young man 17 years old, was shot and killed by Bill or Dan Thornburg.
Two notorious characters who usually have several cases in every court. The brothers are twins, very similar in appearance, and tried to force an entrance into a show without paying. They were ejected, when the witnesses were not certain which drew the revolvers. Four shots were fired, striking Aderholt, who was waiting for the performance to commence, just below the right eye, from which he died in fifteen minutes. two shots struck the showman on the hip and arm. injuring him seriously but not fatally.
The Thornburgs escaped. Aderholdt was the son of Emanuel Aderholt, formerly county treasurer of Gaston.
