Funeral services for Miss Julia Stevens, who passed away Satuday morning at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs.Frank Freeman, were held on Monday afternoon, June 27 in the Dundas Methodist church at 2 p.m., Edgar Iverson, assisted by the Rev C.E.Haynes, officated and two hymns,"face to Face" and Ivory Palaces" were sung by a E.A. Chester and Mrs J.A.Gray. Interment was made in Groveland Cemetery, and the pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased: Lyle,Stanley,Theron,Winston and Ketih Freeman and Frank Jankowski. Miss Julia Ann Stevens was born on May 4,1863 near Leeds, Maine, the daugher of Captain and Mathilda Bates Stevens. She lived there until she was five years old, then came to Dundas where she spent her entire life. She attended the local schools, graduating from the Dundas high school, and later Carleton College. she entered the teaching profession, and taught in the rural schools near here for 30 years. After she retired from teaching she became assisted post mistress for her sister, Miss Hattis Freeman, who at that time the Dundas post office, and worked in this position for more than 15 years, retiring in 1934, and since living quietly at her home here.
