Phoebe 'Bee' F. Barkley TACOMA, Wash. - Phoebe "Bee" Frances Barkley, 94, Tacoma, died Saturday, May 15, 1993, at Pugent Sound Hospital in Tacoma. She was born Oct. 3, 1898, in Winnebago, Minn., to William F. Rorman and Minnie (Waldren) Rorman. She received her education at Mankato College and entered the U.S. Government Services in January of 1921 at Pierre, S.D., where she married John A Barkley on May 23, 1923. In 1978 she retired in Aberdeen, S.D., and she and her husband moved to Rapid City, S.D., where he died on Jan. 21, 1983. She moved to Tacoma in the 1980's. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and HUB Area Barracks Auxiliary in Aberdeen. Survivors include two sons, Dunald Barkley, Tacoma, and the Rev. John Barkley, Kimball, Neb.; one daughter, Jean Schwarting, Topeka, Kan.; one brother, Harry Rorman, Waikoloa, Hawaii; five grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, and infant daughter, Joan, and two sisters. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Campbell, Paula & Quinn Funeral Home in Rapid City with the Rev DeVern Schwenn officiating. Interment services will be in the Rotunda at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S D. Memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church.
