HICKORY FLAT Earl David Hunter, 87, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Benton County to Luther B. and Ollie Rhodes Hunter. He was a retired dairy farmer, and he had served on various farm committees in Benton County. He also served as trustee on the Hickory Flat School committee. He was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for 35 years.


Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. James Earl West officiating. Burial will be in Flat Rock Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.


Survivors include his wife, Ruby Street Hunter of Hickory Flat; one daughter, Sara L. Wells and her husband, Willard Thomas Wells Sr., of Columbus; one grandson, Chip Wells of Columbus; one great-grandson; one brother, Charles L. Hunter of Vidor, Texas; one sister, Irene Murry of Blue Mountain.


Pallbearers will be G.T. Scott, Glen Cossitt, Billy Box, Tom Childers, William Perkins and Mack Thompson Jr.
