Augustine Chambers Shipley, 79, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
She was a 1948 graduate of Central High School and a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church for 50 years, and then a member of Brainerd Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Audrey Wooten Chambers and grandmother, Belle Lambert Wooten.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Irvin M. Shipley; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Steve Gravitt; granddaughters, Hayden Crihfield, of New York City, and Neely Hyde and her husband, Anson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the East Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Denny Humphries officiating.
Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 2-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
