Calvin Newton Lyons, 83, born 10 Oct 1909, of Hoboken, died Saturday morning, 21 Aug 1993, at his residence following a long illness.
A native of Wayne (now Brantley) County, he was a son of the late George Wesley Lyons and Fannie Cornelia Henderson Lyons. He was retired from the timber industry and was a member of the Raybon Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include his wife, Navada Sapp Lyons of Hoboken; one daughter, Jeanette Roberson of Hoboken; two sons, Erskin Lyons and Marlin Lyons, both of Brunswick; one sister, Martha Morgan of Nahunta; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the Chambless Funeral Home with the Rev. Eldridge Wilson and the Rev. Ronald Sharpe officiating.
Burial followed in Rob Lewis Cemetery in Raybon.
Pallbearers were Gerald Morgan, David Earl Sapp, Darrell Sapp, Kenny Morgan, J. L. Morgan, and Lavon Lyons.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Sharpe, Hoke Wilson, Corbett Wilson, Wesley Lyons, C. W. Riggins, Richard Rhoden, Charlie Chesser, and Mark Ashworth.
Chambless Funeral Home of Nahunta was in charge of arrangements.
