Abraham Mcneal, born on 17 April 1825, New York, married Phoebe Beebe on 1 Oct 1850 in Wisconsin. They had four girls and one boy.The two twin girls of which were the first white children born in Dodge County, Nebraska. There is still a marker standing in Fremont, Nebraska showing "Mormon Trail 1847 Military road 1856, first settlement of area by Weltha Beebe and Abram Mcneal May 25 1856. And where were born Annie and Jennie Mcneal, the first children of Dodge County settlers on July 12 1856.

While suffering from repeated bouts of malaria, Phoebe Beebe passed away along with the child she delivered , Charles Henry Mcneal. Abraham decided to move west to California in search of his older brother John Mcneal. He did not find John and moved to Salem, Oregon. Money and work were hard to find to feed the four daughters. After the flood of 1861, at the age of six Anna and Jennie were adopted my Mr Johannes and Eliza Emmens in Salem Oregon.

An 1880 census shows Abraham married to a Matilda Mcneel, 45, with a son, Francis 16 years of age. Oregon records show that they divorced on Dec 31, 1885.
Divorce record from Marion co., Oregon shows Abraham and Matilda married 27 Jul 1874, and that on or about April 1881 Matilda deserted and abandoned Abraham for over three years. At which time Abraham asked for a divorce. Matilda was not served as sworn testimony of official stated that she could not be found to serve. Per judge R.P. Boise it was decided that she be served via newspaper publications for a period of six weeks starting on the 23rd of April 1885.
Probate records show Matilda as administrator of the estate, she is still listed as his wife.

George Kraus has the obituary of Abraham( Abram) McNeal which
says he died suddenly at his home in Tacoma, Washington Territory on
Wednesday, June 23, 1886, Aged 61 years . The sad news came as a shock
to his many friends in this city (Independence) The old gentleman
spent nearly a year in this place returning to Tacoma a little over a
year ago. While here he made many friends who will be pained to hear of
his death. (apparently he lived with daughter Jenny McNeal Cooper
while in Independence) He was subject to heart disease for a long time.
Grandma
Jenny Cooper is buried Mt. Crest Mausoleum, Salem, Or. Some family also
buried in old cemetery at Zena, Oregon.
In Abraham McNeal's Probate record the is a billing showing payment for 1 lot in Oakwood cemetery for his burial at a cost of $35.00 dated 26 Jun 1886.
