Funeral Rites Held For John Anderson--
The funeral of John Anderson, the faithful janitor at the court house, whose sudden death was announced in last week's paper, was held from the Swedish Mission church Friday afternoon, July 22, Rev. C.V. Enstrom, pastor of the church, officiating.
Relatives, friends and old settlers filled the church to capacity, all eager to pay their last tribute of love and respect to their departed friend. The funeral service was opened with a song by the audience followed by scripture reading by the pastor, Rev. Engstrom. Then came a song by the choir after which Rev. Edwin F. Lindholm, former pastor of the church, preached an English sermon. Another son by the choir followed, after which Rev. Engstrom delivered an impressive funeral discourse in Swedish. A beautiful solo was sung by Mrs. Engstrom. County officials at the court house acted as pall bearers. A profusion of flowers, tributes from members of the family and friends, attested to the love in which deceased was held by those who knew him best. A long funeral procession accompanied the remains to the last resting place in the Greenwood cemetery, where a short service was also held.
Mr. Anderson was born in Varmland, Sweden, April 2, 1865. He died July 19, 1927, at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 17 days. He had been a resident of Marshall county for 42 years. For 12 years he was employed every summer on the Spaulding farm and for two years he served as engineer at the old mill. For 27 years he has served as janitor of the Marshall county court house.
He was married on November 4, 1892, in this city, to Louisa Wassgren, who with two daughters, Mrs. Leroy Scheneck, of Breckenridge, Minnesota, and Miss Elsa Anderson, at home, and one son, Sidney Anderson, of this city, mourn the loss of a good husband and father. Deceased is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. John L. Anderson, of Pillager, Minn., and Mrs. S.S. Stadsvold of Fosston.
Mr. Anderson was a good citizen, faithful and dependable in the performance of every duty assigned to him. His long service as janitor at the court house, the building and grounds of which he kept in such perfect condition is evidence of this fact. He enjoyed the highest respect of everybody in the community. Peace to his memory. To the bereaved family this community extends its most sincere condolences.
