Joseph Bobosky Jr., 83, of 211 Bluff St. died the night of Jan. 9, 2009, in Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Joseph and Helen Novotne Bobosky.

He was married for 55 years to the former Dolores B. Smolinski. She died Dec. 8, 2001.

He retired with more than 40 years as the shop foreman at Winkle Electric in Youngstown.He was a life member of the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and bowling with the Wabash Bears Bowling League. He was past president of the New Castle District Bowling League. He loved woodworking and really loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an Army veteran of World War II and held the rank of technician 5th grade in the 242nd Infantry, 42nd Division. He was inducted July 31, 1943, and honorably discharged on July 7, 1945. He served in the Northern France and Germany campaigns. He received the European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal, two bronze battle stars, a Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge and Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include two daughters, Dolores A. Gwin and Kathleen Miron of New Castle; three sons, Joseph Bobosky, Mark Bobosky and Roger Bobosky, all of New Castle; one brother, George Bobosky of New Castle; two sisters, Helen Jendrysik and Maryann Graziani, both of New Castle; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Mark Bobosky; and two brothers, Thomas Bobosky and James Bobosky.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 S. Mill St.A procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow for St. Mary Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. The Rev. Victor Molka, pastor of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
