Graveside services for longtime Gridley resident Flora Barnes, 87, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Sandy Brown of Gridley Presbyterian Church.
Following a long illness, Mrs. Barnes died Tuesday at Hillhaven Convalescent Hospital in Yuba City.
She was born Nov. 4, 1898, in Hurley, Mo. and moved to Gridley in 1937. She was a cannery worker at the Libby’s Canning Company for 28 years. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, James, who died in 1975.
Among her survivors are a son, Sterlin Barnes of Galt; five daughters, Goldie Lewis of Gridley, Neda Massey of Bonnerdale, Ark., Velva Massey of Yuba City, Bonnie Winters of Sacramento and Wanda Keen of Redding; 24 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Gridley Block Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Visitation will also be held Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Crippled Children’s Foundation. The contributions can be left at the funeral chapel.
