A native of Missouri, born September 27, 1900, he was the son of the late John S. and Clarinda Barnes.
Before coming to Gridley in 1937 he farmed in Missouri. He worked at Butte Farms, east of Gridley, for 24 years before retiring. Since moving here he had made his home at 245 California Street.
Surviving are his wife, Flora of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Goldie Lewis of Gridley, Nelda Massey of Bonnerdale, Arkansas, Mrs. Velva Massey of Olivehurst, Bonnie Winters of Sacramento, and Mrs. Wanda Keen of Klamath Falls, Oregon; a son, James S. of Galt; a brother, Fred of Bentonville, Arkansas …. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday … interment at Gridley Biggs Cemetery.
