in Cabarrus Co. NC bondsman was H Alphonso Alexander withness was Kiah P. Harris. The elder Frances listed
in the 1850 census is most likely Sandy's mother, Frances "Fanny" Rogers. Sandy's father, John had died in 1827 leaving Sandy his plantation.

The 1840 Cabarrus Co. NC census has Sandy McKindley with
one male under 5, 2 males 30 to 40, one female 5 to 10, one female 15 to 20, one female 20 to 30 and one female 60 to 70, 23 slaves


Sandy McKinley age 62, married, born in NC died July year ending July 1, 1870 of "Billious fever" in Caldwell co. NC. [mortality schedule, ancestry.com]

A grandson of Sandy's, Lloyd M. Query, evidently wrote
quite a bit about the McKinley ancestry and these writings can be found in the McKinley Folder in the Cannon Memorial Library, Concord, Cabarrus co., NC.

The 1850 Cabarrus Co. NC census, p. 453 dwelling 788/family 788 has Sandy McKinley age 42 a farmer with $4000 value of real estate. Elisabeth C is 32 and "do as gar". Francis is 79 (Sandy's mother) and Francis is 18, Mary C is 14, John M W is 11, Ceny E (female) is 9, Laina E (female) is 7, Robert Cis 4 and Samuel M is 2. All give their place of birth as Cab. NC. Also living with this family is Martha A Cochran age 18 and Francis I Cochran (female) age 16. Both were born in Cab. NC. James A White age 22 is listed as "overseer" and was born in Meck. NC. Sandy McKinley owned 17 slaves.

Louis MCKINLEY b: 1860 I wonder why Lewis showed his birthplace as MISSISSIPPI on the 1900 census in Gregg Co TX (b. 1859), where he shows up as an unmarried JEWELER? He
was laboring on his sister Ceny's and b-in-law James L Stafford's farm in 1880.
I'll bet his life was interesting between 1880 and 1900!
