Her family was one of the original Duran families of the 1900's and she was raised in Mesilla until she married Luis T. Galaz. She attended school and went to the Catholic Church in Mesilla. Consuelo worked very hard in the cotton and onion fields and later in life helped her family in the chile fields. She remained very devoted to the Catholic faith and passed that on not only to her family, but the many children she taught in her Catechism classes. Consuelo was also very active with politics, getting people to register to vote, and taking those that needed a ride or help to vote. She had a great passion for bingo and dancing, but her greatest love was that for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her Mexican cooking and reassuring smile will be missed by all.
