Henry Murray is the second, known of, child born to Lavina / Vienna (Rudisill?) and James Murray. Henry is born at Missouri according to the four U.S. Federal Census on which we find him, however, the town we don't know.
By 1850, the first Census we find Henry at age 17, his family resides at Piney, Johnson County, Arkansas. We believe Viney and James are the young mans parents, but father James, b. about 1784 at North Carolina and mother Viney or Vienna born about 1795, also at North Carolina. James and Viney, farmers, are old enough to be the Grandparents.

About 1852 Henry will wed Polly Ann Turrentine, likely at Johnson County, Arkansas. They have their children in fairly short order:
James A. Murray 1853
Sarah Jane Murray 1854
Eliza C Murray 1857
Mary A E Murray 1860 (after June 21 when Census was taken).

In 1860 Henry and Mary, she goes from Polly to Mary to Mary Ann depending upon the census; are farming, children: James 7, Sarah 6 and Eliza 3 are in the home and doing their share in helping around the farm. Henry's brother John Lewis Murray lives next door with his wife, Ruth E. Holmes, and their four children.

June of 1870 Henry has a much larger family to care for at Perry, Johnson Co., Arkansas. Their children: James 16, Sarah 15, Eliza 13 and Mary age 9 are in the household. Henry's wife Polly, her sister Sophronia Turrentine Murray, she had wed Henry's brother Wyatt J. Murray. 'Safrony' and her sons James age 13 and Thomas age 11 live with them as her husband; Wyatt J. Murray died about a year earlier. Henry's nephew; Thomas H. Murray, age 28 also lives with them.
Henry and Polly own their farm, valued at $600. Their sons attend school and help with everything ... yet nephew Thomas M. Murray, age 28 is 'without occupation'.

June of 1880 Henry & Polly continue farming at Perry, Johnson co., Arkansas. Their son James, age 27 is now married to Sarah M Nichols age 21. James and Sarah have two small children ... all living with Henry & Polly. Polly's sister Sophronia Adeline Turrentine, who had married Henry's brother Wyatt J. Murray, Sophie remarried after Wyatt's death, Sophie passed the year before this Census, her daughter H. J. Parker, age 4, is now living with Henry & Polly et al.

According to various accounts, Henry passed at the age of about 49 years. The very bustling household, all the wear and tear on a body, likely he served in the War Between the States and of recent caring for his family with several extra generations ... it was a lot. It was also the average age at which a man died in those years.

The generosity of Henry and Polly in caring for their siblings and siblings children, it may well be that Old Vienna and James Murray, the guardians of Henry and his brothers John, James and Wyatt, were in fact their Grandparents. One day more details will be revealed on this loving, hard working Family.
