Peleg was a Private in the Revolutionary War and his widow, Hannah (Potter) Hart received a pension of $23.33 per year. Peleg and Hannah settled in the village of Akron, Erie Co., New York about 1837 and lived out the rest of their lives. In the Summer of 2002, I went to the Maple Lawn Cemetery in search of Peleg, Hannah and other family members. I searched for some time without any luck of finding their tombstones. I inquired about a new fence that had been put up along the street from a Gentleman who was nearby and told me that several years ago, the cemetery extended closer to the street and after careful examination found Peleg's stone and grave buried beneath about 3 to 4 inches of sod. The new fence had been contstructed directly over Peleg's grave. Peleg was the son of Constant and Deborah (Sanford) Hart. Peleg and Hannah had thirteen children: Ichabod, Elizabeth, Phebe, Permilla, Hannah, Abel, Joseph, Lucinda, Cynthia, Malintha, Lucy, Nancy and Rescom.
