DIMMITT - Beatrice Mays Ewing, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, in Amarillo.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Alford Sanders, the Rev. Elder McNeal, the Rev. Stahling and the Rev. Willie Ewing officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Beatrice was born May 16, 1935, to Johnie and Ethel Mays in Stanford. She was a longtime resident of Dimmitt for 53 years. She was a cook for many years as well as an employee of Canterbury Villa Nursing Home. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ewing; a daughter; two grandchildren; and her parents.

Survivors include 10 sons, Billy Ewing of Plainview, Willie Ewing of Lubbock, Albert, Richard, John, Timothy and Adrian Ewing, all of Dimmitt, Robert Ewing of Baltimore, Donald Ewing of Farwell and Michael Ewing of Fort Worth; five daughters, Mary Smith of Snyder, Okla., Robbie Ewing of Baltimore, Mary Ewing of Dimmitt and Cora Worsham and Bernice Ewing, both of Denton; two brothers, Elbert Curry of Midland and John Mays of Abilene; three sisters, Johnnie May Price of California, Margo Smith of Denison and Betty Beaver of Merkel; 41 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Cora Earl.
