Ellis "Ray" Whitworth, 81, Pacific, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Ozark Medical Center, West Plains.

Mr. Whitworth was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Robertsville, the son of Samuel Whitworth and wife Grace, nee Woodland.

He attended school in St. Clair.

Mr. Whitworth was a member of St. Clair Masonic Lodge and Pacific American Legion. He also was a Pacific volunteer fireman in his earlier years.

Mr. Whitworth was a member of Catawissa Union Church.

On Aug. 3, 1946, he was united in marriage to Hazel Stuhlmann.

Mr. Whitworth was a construction supervisor for SWB and a member of Carpenters Local 602 and Carpenters District Council of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel; five brothers, Lee, Shelby, Robert, Floyd and Estus Whitworth; two sisters, Della Lahlmann and Clementine Bandermann Horn; and one grandson, Dustin Evans.

Mr. Whitworth is survived by two sons, Thomas Whitworth, Ocala, Fla., and William Whitworth and wife Sharon, Springfield; two daughters, Janis Whitworth and Eddie Campbell, Cherokee Village, Ark., and Laura Doyle and husband Randy, Joplin; seven grandchildren, Missy, Matt, Katie, Luke, Mandy, Jared and Nathan; four great-grandchildren; in-laws; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 13, at Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, Pacific.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Catawissa.

Memorials to Oak Ridge Cemetery or the American Cancer Society are preferred.

The family was served by Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, Pacific.
