William Robert Whitworth, 88, known to most as Bob, St. Clair, was born at Robertsville August 14, 1906. He was the son of the late Samuel Robert Witworth and Grace Whitworth, nee Woodland.
On May 19, 1934, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Fisher. In later years, on March 24, 1973, he was united in marriage to Mary Wagner, nee Short, and on October 7, 1982, to Cecil Sibole, nee Bailey. Bob died at Washington July 7, 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Cecil Whitworth, St. Clair; one son, Robert Whitworth and wife Jean, Palatine, Illinois; one daughter, Faith Flora and husband, Melvin, St. Clair; one stepson, Bob Sibole, Union; two brothers, Floyd Whitworth, St. Clair, and Ray Witworth, Pacific; one sister, Clementine Horn and husband, Morris, Washington; by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Geraldine Whitworth and Mary Whitworth; three brothers, Estes, Shelby and James Lee Whitworth; and one sister, Della Lohmann.
Bob was a Christian and a longtime, devoted member of the First Baptist Church in St. Clair. In past years, he had served as a Sunday School teacher, and until his health failed him, he was proud to say he had not missed a service.
Bob had been employed as a carpenter at Purina Farms in Gray Summit.
After he retired, he had enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies, ... Nothing ment more to Bob than his family and spending time with them. ...
Visitation was held after 4 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at the First Baptist Church in St. Clair with the Reverends Robert F. Whitworth, Milo Haynes and Phil Turner officiating. Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union. Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, St. Clair.
