Andrew Huber was born October 17, 1858 at house number 1 in Großsteinlohe, Kreis Cham, Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany to Johann Baptist (John) Ringelstetter and Francisca (Frances) Huber. His baptism was soon legitimized and he was given the last name "Ringelstetter." Andrew was baptized by Father J. Stichauner at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Tiefenbach. Andrew's parents were married May 31, 1860 in Tiefenbach, Kreis Cham, Bavaria, Germany.

At age 11, Andrew and his parents and siblings emigrated from Germany to America, arriving at the Port of Baltimore in Maryland on July 2, 1870. The family lived in Bear Creek Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin.

On October 3, 1887, Andrew married Catherine Pfeiffer, an 1885 immigrant from Irlach, Bavaria, Germany. The marriage ceremony was performed by Father Ignatz Harrier and took place at St. Luke Catholic Church, Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin.

Andrew and Catherine and family lived in a log house at Section Sec 13, T9N, R3E in Franklin Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin from August 1886 to September 1896. They then farmed at Section 34, T9N, R4E in Lower Wilson Creek, Spring Green Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin. On October 22, 1905, they purchased a farm at State Road 60 in Section 36 in Troy Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin.

Andrew and Catherine had 10 children: Anna, Henry, Regina, Herman, Clara, John Albert, Hildegard Marie, Rudolph John, Agnes Anna, and Alphonse.

On September 12, 1916, Andrew became a citizen of the United States.

OBITUARY - RINGELSTETTER
Funeral services for the late Andrew Ringelstetter, who died in St. Mary's hospital, Madison, July 18th, 1922, were held in St. John's Catholic church at 10 o'clock Friday morning. Rev. Father Surges of Plain conducted the funeral services in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Father Brudermanns. Andrew Ringelstetter was born October 17th, 1857, at Tiefenbach, Bavaria, Germany. He came to America with his parents in 1870. On October 3rd he was married to Catherine Pfeiffer, who survives him. He leaves to mourn his passing nine children: Mrs. Robert Alt, Mrs. Anton Alt, Herman, Clara, Albert, Hilda, Rudolph, Agnes and Alphonse Ringelstetter. Another son, Henry M., preceded his father in death ten months. In addition to the children just named the deceased leaves his aged father, John Ringelstetter, 92 years old, and two brothers, Michael and Joseph, of Plain, and three sisters, Mrs J. Giesen of Dimock, South Dakota; Mrs. Francis Alvin of Bear Valley, and Mrs. John Alt of Plain. Six nephews acted as pall bearers: August and Lawrence Hetzel, Lawrence and William Alvin, John Ringelstetter and Herman Alt. Andrew Ringelstetter was one of the pioneers of Sauk county. He endured the hardships and vicisitudes incidental to building up a new country. He was a factor with the other settlers in evolving an undeveloped region of the middle-west into one of the greatest commonwealths in the union. To him, with the other pioneers, the nation owes a debt of remembrance. It was of such as he a recent writer spoke in his tribute to the pioneer: "They wore out their lives in toil. They suffered without plaint. From primitive rawness they created a glorified state. Honor and remembrance and glory everlasting be theirs." Mr. Ringelstetter was not the type of man who sought publicity, honor or self praise, yet his good qualities have placed his name and memory in the highest place in the community where he unostentatiously lived his life. He leaves to his children the heritage of good example and the training that should cause to live on his ideals of practical Christianity and good citizenship. Card of Thanks.
