She was born in Dickenson County, Virginia; daughter of the late Walter B. and Nannie B. Kiser. Before her marriage she was a nurse in Richmond, Virginia and after her marriage she became a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her home was a welcoming place to all her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and anyone who knocked on her door. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curt Amburgey; one daughter, Linda Mae "Midge" Amburgey; two brothers; four sisters; and one special friend, Gray Johnson.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Prietz of Baltimore, Maryland and Dana Sue Johnson and husband, Bill of Kingsport, Tennessee; four sons, Gaines R. Amburgey of Dante, Virginia, Freddie Amburgey and wife, Ann of Salem, Virginia, Richard Amburgey and wife, Mary of Castlewood, Virginia, and Terry Amburgey and wife, Marie of Moneta, Virginia; two sisters, Ruth Kiser of Statesville, North Carolina and Mollie L. Kiser of Lebanon, Virginia; one brother, James Kiser of Statesville, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and one special ex son-in-law, Ron Prietz.
Funeral Services for Beulah Mae Amburgey will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with the Rev. Lanny Powers officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Kiser, James Glovier, Avery McClellan, Robbie Baker, Gabe Faber, and Donny McCoy.
