- She was born Feb. 21, 1916, a native of Iredell County, a daughter of the late Percy Lee and Sarah Etta Foster Cartner.
- On Dec. 9, 1934, she married Sidney Prather, who preceded her in death in 1982.
- In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Etta Godbey. - Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Lewis of Harmony, and Marie Prather of the home; two brothers, Paul and John Lee Cartner, both of Statesville; three sisters, Ruth Kimmer of Lexington, Naomi Stroud and Elizabeth Stroud, both of Statesville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
