Midge Lewis - JONESBOROUGH
Mrs. Midge Lewis, 81, Sulphur Springs, TN, passed away, Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the John M. Reed Nursing Home in Limestone with her family by her side.

She was born in Greene County, TN, and was a daughter of the late Floyd and Nancy Etta Franklin Gilbert. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Maynard Morrison; and her second husband, Bill Lewis; 2 brothers, Gary Gilbert and Dean Gilbert.

Mrs. Lewis lived in Gray, TN, until she moved to Greenville, SC, where she lived for 26 years and managed an International Pancake House. In 2001, she moved from Greenville to the Sulphur Springs Community to live with her daughter and be close to her family. She was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving: a daughter, Fran Maples and her husband, Tad, of Jonesborough; 4 sons, Jack Morrison, Erwin, James Elliott Morrison and wife, Evonne, Jonesborough, Doug Morrison and wife, Patty, Elizabethton, and Lynn Morrison and wife, Rachel, Gray; a sister Elsie Wilhoit, Abingdon, VA; 3 brothers, Fred Gilbert and wife, Gail, Greeneville, Larry Gilbert and wife, Bobbie, Los Angeles, and Perry Gilbert and wife, Sandy, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, Donna Cutshaw and husband, Rocky, Christy Keys and husband, Scott, Ethan Morrison, Shannon Morrison, Melissa Morrison, Linda Morrison, Dougie Morrison, McKenzie Keys, Amy Williams and Chad Morrison and wife, Shandon; 4 great grandchildren, Robert Rose, Alyssa Brackins, Jake Williams and Callie Williams; 1 great great grandchild, Bradley Shane Johnson; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend and caregiver, Judy Rowland.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2009, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Beaver officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the funeral service and other times at the home of her daughter.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Massengil, Chad Morrison, Robert Rose, Scott Keys, Rocky Taylor and Matthew Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Green, Fred Gilbert, Benny Massengil, Kurt Sells, Jonathan Beck and Randy Gilbert.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 N. Boone St.. Suite 1050, Johnson City, TN 37604.
