Albert Anderson shot by companion near Kimberly, and dies at Salina Hospital, shooting is result of an accident.
Albert Anderson, age, 33, of Elsinore, son of Mrs. A.M. Anderson, died Sunday morning at the Salina hospital, following the amputation of his right leg which had been shattered by a bullet while hunting last week.
He left Elsinore last Wednesday to hunt deer, accompanied by his nephew, Merlin Anderson and they chose the mountains in the vicinity of Kimberly as the best hunting grounds. The hunters separated and Albert, some time later, entered a clump of trees in quest of game. Merlin arrived on the opposite side of the patch of trees, and seeing the brush move, he thought a deer was hidden there. He fired into the bushes, and the a bullet struck Albert in the right leg, six inches below the knee, shattering the bone. when Merlin discovered what had happened he helped form a tourniquet with a gun strap, and then hastened for help. He got word to Elsinore and Dr. Bjornsen hastened to the scene of the accident, where he administered first aid to the wounded man. The doctor advised his removal to the Richfield hospital, but relatives decided to take him to Salina hospital. The attending physician decided that amputation was necessary and the operation was performed. Loss of blood before help arrived added to the severe nervous shock proved too much for the man's vitality, and he died Sunday morning.
He was highly respected in Elsinore and the sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved mother and other relatives in this regrettable accident.
