Abagail was the daughter of William Suter (or Sooter/Sutter) and Katherine "Kate" Singleton. Abagail married 3 times:
First, to William Calvin Cowger (1828-1883), near whom she is buried in Sursa.
Her second marriage was to Matthew T. Rough, who died in 1897.
Her third marriage was to Phillip Hamilton Gilbreath, whom she married on 16 November 1902 in Jefferson County, Illinois. He was born in 1855 and died in 1929.

Abagail's sister is also buried in Sursa. Her married name was Dollie Ann Sursa. Dollie and Abagail's brother Alford (or also seen as Alfred) married in Jefferson County, Illinois, just months before his death in 1863 in the Civil War.

Abagail's gravestone is on the old side of the cemetery along the N-S driveway running thru the center of the cemetery, near the south corner. She is buried near her first husband William Calvin Cowger.
Abigail Suter was the daughter of William and Kate Singleton Suter. There are many variants to the spelling of this surname found in various documents: Sutter, Sooter, Souter.

Abigail Suter married William Calvin Cowger on 22 August 1849 in Wilson County, Tennessee. They were the parents of one child, William A., who is also buried in Sursa Cemetery. All three gravemarkers can be found just west of the central gravel drive, on the south side of the old section.

Extensive maintenance of the graves in Sursa has been undertaken by the board of trustees, and this particular stone was almost unreadable before restoration.
