MADISON D BABBS, 87 REITRED FARMER, DIES AT HOSPITAL MONDAY
Madison D.Babbs, 87 retired Altamont resident, died Monday at the St.Anthony Memorial hospital in Effingham. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9 oclock in the St.Clare Catholic church with the Rev. Joseph McKeogh officiating.
A resident of Altamont for the past 46 years Mr.Babbs was engaged in farming and also worked for the Pennsylvania railroad. He was born at Gilmore on March 22,1873, the son of the late Curtis and Sarah Cooksey Babbs. Catherine Fulton Babbbs his wife preceded him in death on April 4,1935. They had been married on December 14, 1896. He is survived by one son,Rolland Babbs of Altamont, one daughter,Mrs.Ralph(Flora) Althoff of Effingham and a sister Mrs. Bessie Landreth of Mason,as well as several grandchildren.
The body is at the Kull funeral home where friends may call. The rosary will be recited Wednesay evening at 3 pm.
