Arthur Barnett Services Held at Honey Grove

Honey Grove

Funeral services for Arthur D. Barnett, 80, of 405 East Fifth Street, were held at the Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon with the Rev. John Wright and the Rev. Dale Swain officiating. Burial was in Oakwood.

Mr. Barnett died in a Honey Grove nursing home Saturday, Jul 29, 1972. He had been ill for five years and in the nursing home five months.

Mr. Barnett was born Sept. 2, 1891, at Ector, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe M. Barnett.

He married Miss Hannah Myrtle Spradley July 10, 1910.

He served as manager of the Lone Star Gas office in Honey Grove for many years, before retiring some seven years ago.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hannah Barnett of the home; one son, Robert Barnett of Plano; two daughters, Mrs. Weldon Collins of Honey Grove and Mrs. Otis Camo of Gordonville; two sisters, Mrs. Marion Gouge of Bonham and Mrs. Robert Ellege of Escadito, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A. D. Barnett

A. D. Barnett, manager of the Honey Grove office of the Lone Star Gas Company since since 1936, will retire October 1, it has been announced. Prior to his twenty years with the company here he was with the company in Bonham.

A native of Ector, Mr. Barnett was receiving clerk for the old Bonham Wholesale Grocery Company for several years, prior to his accepting a position with the gas company in January 1928.

Barnett was married to Hannah Myrtle Spradley of near Thorndale in Milam County on July 10, 1910. They make their home in Honey Grove at 405 1st Street.

Mr. and Mrs. Barnett have five children: Mrs. Opal Camp, Wichita Falls; Thurman D. Barnett, Dallas; Mrs. Ruby Blankenship, Dallas; Mrs. Anna Collins, Honey Grove, and Robert A. Barnett with the U.S. Navy at Memphis, Tenn.

The Barnetts have ten grandchildren.

Mr. Barnett advised The Signal-Citizen that he had made no definite plans for the future, other than to rest and take it easy for the next few months.
