Imogene Gladys French, 77, of Canadian, Texas, formerly of Morrilton, died Sunday, June 6, 1999. She was born Feb 20, 1922 in Birdtown, a daughter of S.P. Bird and Rose Gordon-Bird. She graduated from Nemo Vista High School in Center Ridge. She married J.D. French on March 13, 1946 in Russellville. They moved to Pampa in 1971 and then to Canadian in 1974. She was a manager at Little Scotty's Convenience Store for several years and was currently employed at the Oasis Truck Stop. Mrs. French was very active with Rachel's Little House Day Care. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Canadian and the First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, J.D. French of Canadian Texas; one son, Kenny French of Morrilton; four daughters, Gwen Massingill and Margaret Canant, both of Morrilton, Cindy Gray of Conway and Sue Edwards of Dumas Texas; two brothers, Dewey Bird of Stigler Okla., and Huie Bird of Clarksville; eight grandchildren and one step-grandchild. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Canadian, Texas with the Rev. Jay McGauphy, pastor of the Temple Baptist Church in Dumas, officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Kilgore Cemetery near Solgohachia with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Funeral services were under the direction of Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors in Canadian. Graveside service will be by Harris at Harris Funeral Home. Visitation will be 7-8 tonight (Wednesday). Memorials may be made to the Kilgore Cemetery Association, No. 1 Leaman Jones Drive, Springfield, Ark. 72157.
