Georgia Irene "Rene'" Bass Goats was the daughter of Daniel Edwin Bass and Dora Etta Larremore. She was married to Ervin Oscar "Erv" Goats on November 1, 1931 in Silver City, Grant County, New Mexico by the Rev. J.E. Mumford.

Her obituary reads:
IRENE GOATS
Funeral services for Irene Goats, 82, were held July 22 in Caldwell's Chapel of the Valley, with Donnie Miller officiating. She died July 19 in Safford Care Center, Safford, Arizona.

Vesta Griffin was at the organ with soloist Scott Goodwin singing the musical selections, "Whispering Hope" and "In the Garden." Concluding services and interment followed on July 24, in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Silver City, New Mexico. Serving as bearers were Ben Bass, Buddy Johnson, Duane Dutton, Rick Batey, Delroy Kartchner and Mike Traynor. Honorary bearers were Charlie Stockton, Floyd Roberts, Harold Filleman, Bill Winters, Gene Johnson and Steve Vukcevich.

Goats was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on Feb. 28, 1907 daughter of Etta Larremore and Daniel Edwin (Jack) Bass. The family moved to Mule Creek when she was 4, traveling in a covered wagon. They homesteaded a ranch there and she attended the Mule Creek School. In 1936 she married Ervin O. Goats and they continued to ranch in the area. She finished her education by correspondence. She served as postmistress for 15 years. She raised six nieces and nephews, taking them into her home and caring for them along with her daughter. She had been in poor health for the past six years.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra G. Henry of Mule Creek, New Mexico; a sister, Dorothy "Dot" Pace of York Valley, Arizona.
