Duncan was was a son of Hugh Fraser (1814-1894) & Ann Matheson (1837-1880). His mother Ann died when giving birth to brother John.
He and 2 of his brothers, Donald (1871-1916) & John Alexander (1880-1962) emigrated to NZ where their sister Catherine 'Kitty' (1866-1931) had eloped to with her boyfriend, William 'Willy' Matheson (1859-1938) in 180. They married here in 1892
Duncan married Mary Elizabeth Wade in 1905.
His brother Donald married her sister Sarah Harriet Wade (1869-1914) in 1899
