Geo. P. Garrison died at the home of relatives here yesterday. He was born at Alliance, Ohio, May 18, 1858. At the age of fifteen he went to a place near Erie, Pa., where he spent a year. From there he went to St. Johns, Mich., where he spent the next four years. In 1871 he purchased the Enterprise of Boyne City, which he operated for eighteen months. In 1882 he removed to Traverse City, where he was given a position as foreman of the mechanical department of the Eagle. After a few years he became a contractor for house and sign painting on a large scale, and carried out successfully the painting of all the buildings belonging to the Chicago and West Michigan Railroad company between Baldwin and Bellaire. He married Miss Katherine A. Clune here Jan. 7, 1884. She preceded him in death by twenty years. He leaves two sons, Albert P. of Grand Rapids, and Lloyd of San Francisco, and two daughters, Miss Effie, of this city and Miss Margaret of Grand Rapids. One other daughter, Sarah, died in infancy. Mr. Garrison was the first alderman in the fifth ward of Traverse City.
