Dorothy E. "Dot" (Olmer) Leighty, 89, of Ruffsdale, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in Excela Heath Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Youngwood, daughter of the late James and Lydia Heckler Olmer. She was a member of Christ Reformed Church of Ruffsdale and was a 1937 graduate of Youngwood High School. Dot enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family, and she had a special place in her heart for her beloved cat, Baby. Dorothy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving family, her daughters and son, Rebecca Henry, and her husband, William, Paul A. Leighty, and Kathleen Overly, all of Greensburg, and Cindy Kozar, and her husband, Robert, of Ruffsdale. She will also be missed by her three grandchildren, Jeffrey Henry, Patrick Henry and Jennifer Warrington; and four great grandchildren, Anthony, Zachary, Ashley and Madison. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Riblett, and her husband, Fred, of Wilmington, Del. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Leighty, in 1989; and by her sister, Genevieve Olmer. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mount Pleasant. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. S. Dennis Kletzing, officiating. Interment will be in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Christ Reformed Church, P.O. Box 208, Ruffsdale, PA 15679, in memory of Dorothy Leighty.
