Kathleen O. Riblett

Kathleen Olmer Riblett, 90, a resident of Millcreek, Wilmington, DE since 1948, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Riblett was born on February 10, 1918 in Youngwood, Westmoreland County, PA, daughter of the late James and Lydia Olmer. She graduated from Youngwood High School in 1935 and then attended Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA. On March 14, 1938, she eloped with and married the love of her life, Fred Diltz Riblett, Sr. In western PA, she gave birth to twin sons, Fred, Jr. and James, in 1943 and another son, John, in 1946. Her daughter, Barbara J. Riblett Bush, was born in 1951 in Wilmington, DE. Kathleen was always a very loving, nurturing and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her entire family, but they know she is happy and peaceful in Heaven and having a wonderful conversation with her recently deceased sister, Dorothy.

Kathleen is survived by her loving husband of nearly 71 years, Fred Diltz Riblett, Sr.; 3 sons, Fred Riblett, Jr. and his wife, Janet of Wilmington, DE, James Calvin Riblett of Newark, DE and John Edward Riblett and his wife, Patti of Knoxville, TN; 1 daughter, Barbara Riblett Bush and her husband, Joseph of Wilmington, DE; 9 grandchildren, who lovingly called her "G" or Grand Mom; and 3 great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Saturday, January 31 from 10-11am. The funeral service will begin at 11am. Interment will be held privately with her family in Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome, but the family encourages those wishing to make a contribution to please do so to Delaware Hospice, who made her final days more peaceful. The address is 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.
