Funeral services for MRS. OVA NEELY ALLRED, 98, of Cookeville, Tennessee and formerly of Overton County Tennessee will be conducted 3 P.M. Sunday, December 21, 2008 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston, with Rev. Baley Fred Allred III officiating. Burial will in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday 1 P.M. unitil time for the service at 3 P.M.

Mrs. Allred was born at Hickory Flatt in Overton County Tennessee on April 14, 1910 to the late William H. Neely and Mary Ellen Ledford Neely. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monterey, Tennessee, member of the Monterey Eastern Star and the Overton County Home Demonstration Club.

On December 24, 1931 she married Jonathan Allred, a coal mine employer. Ova devoted her life to supporting her husband and churches in Overton and Putnam Counties. In l935 she was appointed Postmaster in Crawford, Tennessee. In 1948, Ova and Jonathan moved to Monterey, where they were very supportive of the Methodist Church. In the fifties they returned to their home in Crawford, where they remained until Jonathan's death in l998. She then relocated to Cookeville.

She was a wonderful Christian lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Allred is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Allred Walker of Cookeville, Joanna Allred Hollaway of Monterey, Priscilla Allred (Dave) Baxter of Jasper, Tennessee. Grandchildren, William Edward Walker and Jane Walker Enochs of Cookeville, Amy Walker Scholz of Charleston, South Carolina, Holly Hollaway Hall, Jon Paul Hollaway, and Sam Hollaway of Monterey, Lynn Baxter and Dee Baxter Harwell of Chattagoona, and Bob Baxter of South Pittsburg, Tennessee. 14 Great-Grandchildren also survive. In addition to her husband of 67 years, she was preceded in death by 8 sisters and brothers.

Mrs. Allred's Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
