Rev. War Soldier Captian, New Jersey Continental Line. Jacob Martin entered into the Rev. War June 1776 and was discharged December 23, 1777. He was a 1st Lieut. of Forman's Reg., New Jersey Militia and Captian to the Fourth Battalion, Second Establishment, New Jersey Continental Line. He married Elizabeth Dunham February 22, 1764d in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey. She was born February 17, 1747 and died February 21, 1826 in Jefferson County, Ohio. According to "The History of Belmont and Jefferson Counties, Ohio" by J. A. Caldwell (pg. 438) Jacob Martin was part of Jefferson County, Ohio's Bar Association and became a judge in 1801. He, along with other pioneers, worked to lay out the townships for Jefferson County. Jacob and Elizabeth Dunham Martin had eleven children; Isabella, Rebecca, Dunham, Dinah, Jonathan, Jesse, Pyatt, George Albert, Elizabeth, Sarah and Catherine
