Jacob and Emma were married in Markham, Ontario on Nov 15, 1887. (Jacob and his brother Abram married sisters, Emma and Elizabeth Raymer.)

Following their marriage, Jacob and Emma resided in Markham until 1910 when they moved to Toronto. The Pike farm on the 9th Concession was sold and Jacob took a job with Simmers Seed House.

In 1937, while still enjoying the best of health, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, feted by their children and grandchildren.

After Emma died, Jacob went to live with his daughter Edna and her husband in Leaside, Ontario.
