Frank Burkley Shead, 77, Route 1, Garland, KS, died at his home on Wed, June 5, 1991. He was born Feb 1, 1914 in Bourbon county,KS,
the son of Ralph and Ruth Burkley Shead. He married Rachel Davis Oct 5, 1983. He served with the Army during World War 2 from Feb 1942 to Oct 1945. He was with company B, 118th Infantry in France. Mr. Shead was awarded two Purple Hearts and the AEME Campaign Ribbon. He was a member of the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Shead was a farmer and also had been a hairdresser.
Survivors include his wife, of the home and four nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Fort Scott National Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW.
