He married Mary Ann White on 24 Aug 1847 in Randolph County, Indiana.

He was born between 1825 and 1830.

They were the parents of 6 children: Pvt. Jonathon "John" Wiley Tallman, James Chandler Tallman, Martha Ann Tallman Balding, Lydia Tallman, Franklin Tallman, and William Thomas Tallman.

He served in the Company D, 43rd Regiment Indiana Infantry.

He was captured along with most of his company, his son Jonathon was able to get away.

He was taken to Camp Ford Prison in Smith County, Texas and he died there as a POW.
