TALMADGE COOK
Talmadge Cook, a resident of Avon, died Wednesday, Dec. 10 at his residence under the care of Covenant Hospice. He was 70.
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Cook will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Cemetary with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Bluff Springs Baptist Church, 1990 Bluff Springs Road, Ashford, AL 36312 or Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 110, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Cook was born and raised in Houston County on Sept. 1, 1938, to Odell and Ossie Lee Jackson Cook. He was engaged in farming during his early years of his life. Mr. Cook worked with Apac, formerly Couch Construction, as a heavy equipment operator, and retired after 46 years of service. He was a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeff Richards; two sisters, Annette Layton, Toy Hughes; three brothers, Foy Cook, Bay Cook and Leo Cook.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Cook, Avon; daughter, Tammy Richards and husband, Bill, Avon; grandaughter, Chelsea Richards, Avon; great-granddaughter, Jayden "J-Bug" Richards; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Joyce and Robert Brunson, Ashford, Marion and Ben Jackson, Cottonwood, Janice Danford, Dothan, Myrtle and James Shirley, Panama City, Fla.; uncle and aunt, James and Polly Cook, Dothan; several neices and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be J.J. Reynolds, Anthony Adams, Glen Phillips, Thomas Hawthorne, Marvin Skinner and Keith Kirkland.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, (334) 702-1712, is in charge of arrangements.
