The above dates are approximate. She is buried as Eliza Alsup.

Wife of Daniel McPhaul (Married March 18, 1851 in Gadsden County, Florida) and the second wife of Joel J. Alsup (Married January 2, 1863 in Bastrop County, Texas)

Mother of Elared (or Edward) McPhaul, Mary E (Marie) McPhaul Alsup, John Thomas McPhaul, Theophilus Walton Alsup and Willie Alsup

Daniel McPhaul and his family moved to Texas from Gadsden County, Florida, shortly after the census of 1860 (enumerated June 15, 1860) to join his brothers William and Campbell McPhaul. Daniel died in 1861 and Eliza is listed on the 1862 Bastrop County, Texas tax roll as owner of a slave.

The "Widow McPhaul" married Joel J. Alsup, whose first wife was Narcissa Denman. Joel was 17 years older than Liza, and although there is no evidence of legal divorce, the marriage probably unravelled. By the census of 1880 Eliza is head of household living with her son John Thomas McPhaul.
