Born January 19, 1935 in Coffeyville, KS he was the son of Ernest William and Bertha May (Dobbs) Bailey. On November 10, 1958 in Kansas City, MO he was married to Mary Laverne Crowder who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two children, Cheryl Mynatt and husband Randy of Rayville, MO and Joe Bailey of Excelsior Springs; one sister, June Anzalone of Deepwater, MO; five grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Bozarth, Mary Mynatt, Philip and Shawna Banning, Martha Mynatt and Heather Sanchez; three great-grandchildren, Reagan Bozarth and Isabella and Julian Sanchez; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jeane Schnedicer and three brothers, Bill Bailey, Bob Bailey and Tom Bailey.
Mr. Bailey attended public schools in Deepwater, MO and had lived various places with his parents. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving for 30 months in France. He had been employed with the Kansas City Stockyards for 11 years before going to work at Ford Motor Company where he was employed for over 21 years before retiring in 1985. Bennie enjoyed walking, reading, gardening and especially spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon for 42 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pisgah Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs, MO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. The family has suggested memorials to Camp Quality of Greater Kansas City.
